A Day in the Life
At Pear Tree, no two days look the same — but every day has the same structure: movement, focused theme work, specialist classes, a hot lunch made from scratch, and time outside. Students rotate between two or three themes across the week.
A calm, gradual start to the school day — reducing stress and setting up a focused learning environment.
A 1-hour session with our own P.E. teacher at Connaught Park.

Morning theme session — students worked on a numeracy activity related to immigration.

Led by our dedicated music teacher. Music and French alternate on different days.

Every student, every day. Made from scratch by our Red Seal chef.
One of the themes running this term. Today: a 6-station rotation — comparing organic vs factory eggs, analyzing dairy farming articles, scientific drawing of BC-grown berries, and more.

The day’s final theme session returns to Canada: Then — a critical thinking exercise designed to provoke deep, analytical thinking and logical deductions.

45 minutes at Connaught Park, rain or shine. Playground, sport fields, and a 10-minute walk each way.

A gradual wind-down gives parents a wider window for pickup, meeting teachers, and connecting with other families.
Optional after-school clubs run until 5:00 PM. See offerings →
From Our Students
Pear Tree felt like another family to me.
I really felt like everyone in Pear Tree was just a family.
I felt free to ask, answer and share my opinions without feeling like I would be made fun of.
Theme-Based Learning
Every term, students work through two or three themes at the same time — rotating between them across the week. Each theme weaves together multiple subjects. Here are 12 of them.
