This week, Pear Tree School was proud to welcome Ming Urwin, an elementary school teacher from Abbotsleigh School for Girls, Sydney, Australia.
Her interested in learning about the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in schools led her to come to Canada to visit Pear Tree School, among other schools in Vancouver. She also visited HTH (High Tech High) in San Diego.
Ming observed that Pear Tree School was the only school that implemented what she considered to be ‘true project-based learning’ – immersed in theme-based learning. In contrast, other schools used PBL as an extra lesson added to a traditional timetable.
Thank you to Ming for taking the time to visit us and to research our progressive educational approach!
