Borja: Mastering the Art of Healthy Eating for Kids🥦🍴

Borja’s journey to Pear Tree School is anything but conventional.

Originally from the beautiful San Sebastian, Spain 🇪🇸—a city renowned for its world-class culinary excellence—Borja traded in a successful career in investment banking to follow his true passion: food.

After receiving his Culinary Management Diploma from Vancouver Island University, Borja’s dedication to the craft saw him rise to Red Seal Level 3 certification, one of the highest culinary achievements in Canada.

But Borja isn’t just an outstanding chef; he’s an advocate for food education. His belief in the power of healthy, adventurous eating for children is what sets him apart. To Borja, food isn’t just about taste—it’s about teaching kids the importance of nutrition and encouraging them to explore new flavors from a young age. Whether it’s a vibrant vegetable stir-fry or a creatively crafted whole-grain dish, Borja’s meals are designed to broaden students’ palates while ensuring they receive the vital nutrients their growing bodies need.

Patrick Hutton: A Decade of Culinary Expertise

Joining Borja and the Pear Tree School team is Patrick Hutton, a chef with over a decade of experience in the culinary world.

From managing kitchen operations to creating diverse, health-conscious menus, Patrick’s expertise complements Borja’s perfectly.

His experience spans continents, having worked in Australia 🇦🇺, the UK 🇬🇧, and Vancouver 🇨🇦, including his recent role as Head Chef at Turf in Kitsilano.

Patrick’s commitment to food safety, innovation, and accommodating various dietary needs has made him a vital addition to our team. His passion for food education aligns seamlessly with Pear Tree’s holistic approach.

Like Borja, Patrick believes in the transformative power of nutritious meals for children and is excited to bring his creative flair to our menus. Together, Borja and Patrick have formed a partnership that elevates our school’s dining experience, providing students with meals that are as delicious as they are nourishing. 😋🍴
